Darjeeling Culture and Arts Form

Darjeeling also has good number of Tibetan ethnic groups like Gurungs, Bhutias, Tamangs, Lamas and Rai and they celebrate New Year called Lochar in January-February, Buddha Jayanti, Chotrul Duchen, Rumfaat and many others. Other ethnic groups like Thapas, Chettris, Pradhan have their own culture and traditions and celebrate most of the Hindu festival in their own traditional culture.

Well if you happen to visit during the winter time in December – November, Darjeeling celebrate musical extravaganza where cultural songs and traditions are put up the different ethinic groups of this hill town to make the tourists and the visitors much familiar with the richness of culture and heritage of Darjeeling.

Culture of Darjeeling and art forms also include food, colonial architecture and handicrafts that also contribute to boom the tourism of this picturesque hill town. Though Darjeeling have a mix population majority being the Nepali called Gurkhas, the culture of Darjeeling has been retaining its charm since ages and people enjoy life with peacefully full of happiness.
